UPSI, 7 October – A conference, which touches on the theme of “Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics for the future of the world,” was held on the 7th and 8th October at Convention Hall, The E-Learning Building, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). The event itself was organized by the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education.

The event was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Education 1, YB Dato’ P. Kamalanathan, who noted that this is the first ever international conference jointly organized by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and UPSI.

“I greatly appreciated this collaboration between the Ministry and UPSI and I hope it will be the criterion of future collaborations,” he commented. “I also hope that at the end of the conference, the participants will be able to forge a network of expertise both locally and internationally, capitalize on new ideas, challenge one’s self to think outside the box and strive to find new definitions in the word, ‘quality’.”

The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for STEM key player, university researchers and experts, statutory bodies, school teachers and education trainees to exchange ideas demonstrate understanding and build an immense network.

Participants are also welcomed to submit a presentation proposal either for a 20 minute long face to face session or poster presentation. All accepted abstracts will be submitted to ISSN or ISBN and will be subsequently published in hardcopy, CDs, and electronic form following the conference. The selected best paper will be published in a refereed journal and submissions are in bilingual.
