Tanjong Malim 28-29 May 2022 – Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), through the
Off-Campus Residential Unit (UKLK), has organized an international e-sport championship
entitled “UPSI International E-sport Tournament”, which is open to all students who are
engrossed with the well-known mobile game. A total of 28 teams consisting of 112 PUBGM
players from Malaysia and Indonesia have successfully participated in this tournament.


The viewers on the Facebook Live has reached almost 1086 views on the first and final day
of the tournament. Fans supported their favourite teams by continously giving support
through likes and comments on Facebook of Unit Kediaman Luar Kampus – UKLK.


According to the Program Director, Izzah Hayani Saleh, this tournament was held to promote
sportsmanship and develop talents among potential university students. She exclaimed,
“The implementation approach of this program involves competitions as a team, and the
winner is selected through the number of points collected”.


‘Through this program as well, it is expected to positively open the perspective and eyes of
the community that esports is not a disadvantage, but indeed, very beneficial’, said the
Program Director.


The tournament was also officiated by The Youth and Sports Officers of University
Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Encik Mohd Faiz Zabri, who proudly insists on the benefits of
partaking in e-sport. He remarked on multiple advantages of e-sport during his speech
during the officiation ceremony.


One of the benefits he stated in the speech is ‘There are signs of positive emotional changes
from the players based on the results of the game. Players tend to feel self-satisfaction by
winning or even achieving some of the rewards in the game especially those that require
extra hard work and concentration.’


The tournament concluded nicely despite the challenging performance exhibited by all 112
players; Axis GR came out strong in the finals by arising as the winner. Ayla Hydra was
assured as the runner-up, followed by Cloud 9 securing third place. All players performed
skillfully and were satisfied with this PUBG Mobile Tournament results.
