Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Employability Centre (EDGE), UPSI has once again demonstrated its commitment to student success by organizing its much-awaited annual Graduate Employability Month.
The event, which kicked off on 1st March 2023, is aimed at equipping students with the skills they need to prepare them for future careers.
The event will take place throughout the month of March and will provide students with an array of opportunities to enhance their employability skills.
The opening ceremony, which was held on 1st March 2023, was a grand affair, with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni) of the university, Prof. Dr. Norkhalid Salimin inaugurating the event.
In his address, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni)spoke about the importance of employability skills and how the university is committed to providing its students with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in the job market.
The ceremony was followed by an online workshop on Microsoft Excel for beginners, which was conducted by Dr. Riswan Efendi from the Fakulti Sains dan Matematik.
The workshop was aimed at improving students’ data analysis and management skills, which are essential in today’s workplace.
Participants found the workshop to be very informative and useful, with many expressing their desire to attend more such workshops in the future.
Another exciting event on the calendar is the Artificial Intelligence for Work and Productivity webinar.
The webinar was conducted by Dr. Muhamad Hariz Muhamad Adnan, an expert in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), on 8th March 2023.
The session provide students with valuable insights into how AI can enhance their productivity and make them more effective in the workplace.
Attendees will learn about the latest trends in AI and how to apply them to their work to stay ahead of the curve.
The roadshow@edge_2023, scheduled for 16th March 2023, is another exciting event on the calendar.
The event will give the students, and the student representative council an opportunity to interact with the top management of EDGE, including Dr. Sharul Effendy Janudin, Dr. Siti Shuhaida Shukor, and Dr. Nurul Akmal Mohamed.
The event promises to be a valuable opportunity for students to engage in meaningful conversations about career preparation and job search strategies.
The venue will be Bitarasiswa from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The final event of the Graduate Employability Month is a talk on interview preparation procedures for the Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Pendidikan (SPP), scheduled for 22nd March 2023. The session will be delivered by Dr. Junaidy Mohamad Hashim from Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Sultan Abdul Halim, Kedah, and will provide students with valuable tips on how to prepare and succeed in job interviews.
The talk is expected to be engaging and informative, providing students with practical advice on how to stand out in a highly competitive job market.
According to the director of the Entrepreneurial Development & Graduate Employability Centre, Dr. Sharul Effendy Janudin, “The Graduate Employability Month is a great opportunity for the students to learn more about the job market and how to best position themselves for a successful career.
We are committed to providing our students with the resources and support that they need to be successful in their job search.”
Overall, Graduate Employability Month at UPSI is an exciting event that provides students with the tools they need to succeed in their careers. The event is a testament to the university’s commitment to students’ success. It is hoped that it will continue to be a yearly tradition that helps students achieve their career aspirations.
