Proton City, Tanjung Malim: “A remarkable community knowledge-sharing program entitled “Say NO To Junk Food!” was successfully conducted at Little Caliph, Proton City, under the supervision of Dr. Syazwan Saidin from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). Spearheaded by a dedicated team of students from Group A, who are enrolled in the Food Science and Nutrition course (SBK3023), the initiative aims to lay a foundation of nutritional awareness and promote healthy eating habits among local kindergarteners.
The event, held on May 6 witnessed enthusiastic participation from the kindergarten students at Little Caliph. The program captivated the children through a series of interactive and educational activities designed to make learning about nutrition both fun and engaging. These activities included playing games related to the food pyramid and engaging in hands-on experiences that emphasized the importance of healthy eating.
Teachers at Little Caliph, Farah Aliya, expressed their appreciation for the program, highlighting its profound impact on their students’ understanding of nutrition. “It’s inspiring to see our kids learning about healthy eating in such a fun and interactive way. This program has made a real difference in how they view food and their choices,” shared Aliya.
The success of this initiative at Little Caliph Proton City has established a model for future programs aimed at enhancing community health through education. By instilling these essential values in children from an early age, the program is addressing immediate nutritional needs and fostering a healthier future for the next generation. Such initiatives are crucial in combating rising health issues like childhood obesity and diabetes in Malaysia.”
