With the theme\u00a0Exploration and Sponsorship Mission for Final Year Project<\/em>, the program offered final-year students a chance to explore new ideas and advance their academic journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This program was the idea of the program advisor,\u00a0Associate Professor Dr. Shakinaz Desa and a passionate practitioner of heutagogy, a learning approach that empowers students to take charge of their education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Shakinaz envisioned this opportunity as a way to encourage students to take ownership of their learning by exploring innovation firsthand, developing not only knowledge but also the confidence to think critically and creatively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis is about giving students the opportunity to think beyond the classroom,\u201d said Dr. Shakinaz.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n By experiencing real-world innovation, they gain the tools to create meaningful and impactful projects.\u201d As the first program of its kind at UPSI, it reflects her dedication to inspiring active and engaged learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Mohamad Termizi Borhan\u00a0also emphasized the importance of this initiative in preparing students as researchers and teacher-researchers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He highlighted how such programs can enhance STEM education. \u201cThis experience equips students with the skills to bring creative teaching methods into classrooms and make science more exciting,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Termizi also noted that the program helps students build critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential for future innovation. It prepares them to not only conduct impactful research but also inspire future generations through advanced teaching methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Program Director,\u00a0Nur A\u2019ishah Zainal Abiddin, from the Biology Education program, shared her excitement about the experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis program has been truly eye-opening. It has given me and my classmates a new perspective on using science and innovation in education.
