Tanjong Malim, 21 June 2026 <\/strong>\u2013 A group of 14 undergraduate students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) successfully conducted the Service Learning Malaysia \u2013 University for Society (SULAM) Mathematics Programme at Pusat Tuisyen Cakna Ilmu (PTCI), Tanjong Malim, as part of the SMU3013 Mathematics course. The one-day programme was organised to strengthen the mathematical proficiency of Form 4 and Form 5 students through an interactive and student-centred learning approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme involved 12 students who participated in learning activities using the Math Workout Workbook, a module specially developed based on the Dokumen Standard Kurikulum dan Pentaksiran (DSKP). The workbook focused on three core Mathematics topics: Exponents and Radicals, Equations and Inequalities, and Functions and Graphs, incorporating both direct and application-based questions to enhance students\u2019 conceptual understanding and problem-solving abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the session, UPSI undergraduates served as facilitators by guiding students through structured exercises and discussions using the workbook. This approach enabled participants to strengthen their understanding of mathematical concepts, improve logical reasoning skills, and apply appropriate strategies when solving examination-style questions. The programme also aimed to increase students\u2019 confidence in answering Mathematics questions while addressing common misconceptions encountered during learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides benefiting the participating students, the programme provided UPSI undergraduates with an invaluable opportunity to apply the pedagogical knowledge and teaching strategies acquired throughout their studies. Engaging directly with students allowed them to enhance their communication skills, classroom management techniques, instructional delivery, and professionalism, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical learning and authentic teaching practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SULAM Mathematics Programme also reflects UPSI\u2019s commitment to producing holistic graduates who are academically competent, socially responsible, and capable of contributing meaningfully to society. Through its collaboration with Pusat Tuisyen Cakna Ilmu, the programme strengthened the partnership between the university and the local community while promoting quality Mathematics education through educational outreach initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Programmes such as the Math Workout Workbook Programme demonstrate UPSI\u2019s continuous dedication to educational excellence, community engagement, and the development of future Mathematics educators equipped with strong academic knowledge, practical teaching experience, and a deep sense of social responsibility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
