UPSI, 25 October – A daughter received an award on behalf of her late father during the 19th Convocation Ceremony which was held at the Tuanku Chancellor Hall.
The award was received by Anis Fazlin Bong Suadi, 22 , whose award was gifted from Pro Chancellor Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Zakri Abdul Hamid during the fifth session of the ceremony earlier today.
The award itself was dedicated to her father, the late Bong Suadi Hashim who passed away on the 31 of May following a heart attack. He was studying for his Master’s Degree in Education (Education Psychology) under the Faculty of Human Development.
Anis Fazlin, who was the family’s only child, lamented that she would accompany her late father to finish his assignment.
“Just a mere month before he’d fallen ill, I aided my father to send in his thesis. But my presence here is of a different vibe because I was obligated to represent the deceased to receive his degree,” she added, with her eyes glistening with tears.
The YTL International College graduate is more than determined to making her mother proud and happy as well as following in her late father’s footsteps even though he has passed on.
The deceased’s spouse, Norafiza Abu Bakar, 42, stated that while she is saddened by her husband’s untimely passing, she is grateful that he has managed to complete his academic journey and proud of his accomplishments.
Norafiza also revealed that while the deceased has had a history of brain haemorrhage and was successfully treated for it, it was his cardiac arrest that would claim his life.
