Putrajaya, 29 November 2024– A national-level recognition was gained by META’s Centre of Embedded Education Green Technology (EduGreen@UPSI) when the Minister of Higher Education YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir and his deputy YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud paid its showcase booth a visit during Festival of Ideas (FOI) Putrajaya 2024.
They acknowledged EduGreen’s high-impact contribution towards food security sustainability goal via the successful development and deployment of dozens of units of Smart Economical Food Waste Composter (Smart EFWC) in schools and communities including Yayasan Aman, Bukit Mertajam.

It was a highly engaging visit where the respected top national executives gave their thoughts about future improvement for SEFWC machines. Such a gesture emphasized the importance of technology for human-centred sustainability.
The appreciative and constructive remarks by the esteemed ministers would inspire EduGreen to further widen the deployment of SEFWC machines through diverse collaborations and version enhancements.

Smart EFWC innovation product is led by Professor Dr. Che Zalina Zulkifli – showcased at FOI 2024 is the 4th iteration of the product. It started in 2016, which was the outcome of the research activities related to environmental conservation to reduce carbon footprints that involved composting activities with various education institutions and societies.

Eventually, the aspired domino effect of national and global environmental sustainability awareness could be achieved by the proposed progressive practices of safe bio-waste handling.
