TANJONG MALIM, Aug 10 — Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) has strengthened its academic ties with China following a visit by a delegation from the College of Humanities, Fuzhou University, which culminated in the signing of a long-term strategic cooperation agreement.
The Fuzhou University delegation was led by Wu Huijuan, Dean of the College of Humanities, together with He Chaoyin, Assistant Dean, and Wang Yu, Director of the Continuing Education Office.
UPSI was represented by Professor Dr. Raja Nor Safinas binti Raja Harun, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), alongside deans, senior university officials and representatives from relevant faculties and departments.
During the meeting, representatives from both institutions discussed opportunities for collaboration in student and staff exchanges, education and training, academic research and cultural exchange. Both sides also shared their respective institutional strengths and resources in the humanities, arts and social sciences, while identifying potential areas for future collaboration.
A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a long-term strategic cooperation agreement, alongside the unveiling and presentation of a plaque marking the establishment of a cooperation base.
The agreement is expected to provide a platform for both institutions to further develop student exchange opportunities, joint education and training initiatives, academic collaboration and other mutually beneficial programmes.
The visit was facilitated by the UPSI China Student Service & Learning Centre, which coordinated communication and arrangements between UPSI and the visiting delegation.
The Centre serves as an important platform supporting UPSI’s student services, learning support and educational engagement in China, while strengthening connections between UPSI and Chinese higher education institutions.
Moving forward, the Centre will continue to facilitate communication and project coordination between both institutions, with the aim of developing the partnership beyond exchange visits into more structured, project-based and long-term collaboration.
The partnership reflects UPSI’s continued commitment to expanding its international academic network and strengthening educational cooperation between Malaysia and China.
