In a significant stride towards fostering international collaboration, Faculty of Sport Science and Coaching (FSSK), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) warmly welcomed three professors from the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Split, Croatia, on January 31, 2024. The visit aimed to explore potential partnerships in research, publications, staff and student exchange, and other academic endeavors.
The visit started by meeting with FSSK management team where both parties discussed on each academic programs and how they can collaborate in the future. They then visited the FSSK laboratories, Sports Centre and UPSI Adventure Park led by Dean of FSSK, Dr. Jaffry Zakaria.
“We are truly impressed by the level of commitment at UPSI to provide top-notch sports science education and research. There are lot of facilities and equipment here that will contribute to the development of students and new findings in research. We think that working together will result in mutually beneficial outcomes,” Dr. Goran Kuvacic, the Vice Dean of Science from the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Split, commented, describing the great potential for collaboration.
“The visit set the stage for a potential partnership between UPSI and the University of Split. Our Deputy Dean, Dr. Ali Nadzalan had initiated the first step by having joint publication with the professors from University of Split and had also applied for ERASMUS program so that students and staffs from UPSI and the University of Split may participate in exchange programs. Both parties have also agreed to work together in hosting seminars and conferences where experts in the area can present and discuss their findings,” Dr. Jaffry Zakaria, Dean of FSSK commented.
Lastly, they were brought to meet the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) Professor Dr. Abdul Rahim Razalli. Dr. Abdul Rahim expressed enthusiasm about the visit and hope both institutions will make an impactful collaborations.
