Tanjung Malim, Perak: In an inspiring effort to promote healthy living and nutritional awareness, the Pertubuhan Perkumpulan Perempuan Behrang Station Branch participated in the ‘Eat Right Future Bright’ program on May 18. Held at the Yusuf Ahmad Building, Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah Campus, the workshop was organized by dedicated students from the Food Science and Nutrition course (SBK 3023), Group A, at Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI).
Under the expert guidance of Dr. Syazwan Saidin from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), with the support of the University Community Transformation Centre (UCTC) and Faculty of Technical and Vocational (FTV), the event aimed to educate participants on proper nutrition and food care according to the correct food pyramid. The initiative also fostered intergenerational communication, with participants learning to prepare homemade pasta in a healthy manner.
The ‘Eat Right Future Bright’ program featured a variety of interactive activities designed to engage and educate women of different ages. Sessions included nutritional education, cooking demonstrations, and hands-on pasta-making workshops. The participants, primarily from the Pertubuhan Perkumpulan Perempuan Behrang Station Branch and Kemas Daerah Muallim, were thrilled with the opportunity to enhance their understanding of nutrition and healthy cooking practices.
Rohani, known as Cik Ani, Chairman of the Pertubuhan Perkumpulan Perempuan Behrang Station Branch, expressed her gratitude for the program. “We are incredibly thankful to the students and all involved for inviting us to this enlightening event. We’ve gained substantial knowledge, particularly in nutrition,” said Cik Ani. The positive feedback from the group members highlighted the program’s success in imparting valuable dietary insights.
The workshop not only enriched the participants’ knowledge but also added value to the students’ educational experience, allowing them to effectively manage and communicate with diverse age groups. This initiative represents a significant step towards fostering community health and wellness. The success of this event underscores the importance of such community-based educational programs. The hope is that similar initiatives can be implemented in the future to extend the benefits of nutritional awareness and healthy living practices to broader communities.
In conclusion, the “Eat Right Future Bright” program stands as a testament to the power of knowledge-sharing and community engagement in promoting health and well-being. The collaboration between UPSI students and local organizations exemplifies a commendable effort to create a healthier future for all.
