Teluk Intan, 4 January – The Teluk Intan Campus of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, which is entering its second building phase, is expected to be finished by December of 2019.
The Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh said the construction of the building will begin this year all the way until December of 2019 before it is open for a new intake.
“With the co-operation of many parties especially by the contractors and JKR serving as supervisors, I am convinced that the campus could be constructed within the time restraint, maybe even sooner than expected.
“Once it is completed, the RM177.4 million campus will have an intake of 2000 students applying for the technical and vocational field apart from the 200 educators and staff excluding their family members who will generate the economy to the tune of up to RM 1 million per month once operational,” he elaborated during the breaking ground ceremony which was held in Mile 4, Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan.
He also added that Teluk Intan will serve as an education hub following the completion of a Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) chain campus as well as a community college previously.
“The campus which will hold the Faculty of Technical and Vocational will offer 10 courses in order to produce competent educators with an emphasis on serving the needs of the Industrial Revolution 4.0,” he further elaborated.
Also attending are the Minister of Farming Operation and Commodities who also serve as a member of the Teluk Intan Parliament, Dato’ Seri Mah Siew Keong, ADUN of Changkat Jong, Datuk Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin and Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar Sabran.
