Tanjong Malim, 20 August 2024- The Digital Creative Marathon (Dicrathon), an innovative program designed to empower participants with vital digital skills, has successfully completed its Phase 2 and Phase 3 activities.

Dicrathon, which stands for Digital Creative Marathon, is a flagship program of Sultan Idris Education University, organized by the Faculty of Computing & Meta-Technology and Software Engineering Club, in collaboration with the Creative Multimedia Club, Information Technology Club, Digital Games Club, Computer Science Club, and Engineering Technology Students Club. The program aims to nurture talent and foster creativity in the digital realm.

Phase 2 of Dicrathon saw the official announcement of challenge titles on 29 June 2024.

The announcement event was conducted online via Microsoft Teams, led by Miss Nurfatin Nabilah, the Project Director of Dicrathon.

During this session, participants were introduced to various challenges by esteemed providers from diverse fields, offering them the opportunity to select a challenge best suited to their skills and interests.

The challenges were presented by a panel of distinguished speakers, including Chairman of Digital Pro Malaysia, Dr. Hasnul Auzani Hassan; Leader of the Dicrathon Program, Dr. Asiah Mohamad @ Razak; Digital Learning Manager of Digital Innovation Services, ADE, Mr. Fatah Hashim; representatives from Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad, Mr. Muhammad Hasyimi Hasyim Mohd Suddin and Dicrathon’s Laravel Trainer from Mecacom Technology Sdn. Bhd, Mr. Muhammad Said Nizammuddin Nadim, who also contributed valuable insights.

Each speaker offered their perspectives and provided recommendations to help participants effectively address the challenges.

Phase 3, conducted from July to August 2024, focused on equipping participants with essential digital skills through a series of upskilling courses. Three courses were conducted by EvoPoint, a partner of Microsoft, ensuring high-quality, hands-on training in key areas. The upskilling courses covered:

Microsoft Power Apps: Participants learned to build custom business applications without extensive coding knowledge. This course was led by Mr. Muhamad Suhairi Mohd Ariffin, empowering participants to create powerful, user-friendly apps tailored to their challenge needs.

Microsoft Azure: Facilitated by Mr. Mohamad Izzat Mohd Nasri, this course provided participants with a deep understanding of cloud computing, enabling them to leverage Azure’s infrastructure for scalable and secure applications.

Power BI: Participants were trained by Mrs. Nur Sabrina Hadayati Ismail to use Power BI for data visualization, helping them turn raw data into insightful reports and dashboards that can drive decision-making.

Laravel: A key framework for web development, the Laravel course was taught by Mr. Muhammad Said Nizammuddin bin Nadim from Mecacom Technology Sdn. Bhd, training participants in building robust, scalable web applications essential for many of the Dicrathon challenges.

These upskilling courses provided participants with the critical tools and knowledge needed to address their chosen challenges effectively. The training sessions were not only informative but also hands-on, ensuring participants could apply what they learned directly to their projects.
