Selangor, 6–8 November 2024 – Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) spearheaded a transformative initiative with its ‘Knowledge Transfer Program: The Use of Asynchronous Course Model to Promote Oral Communication Skills’ among teachers and students.

Held at SK Sg Buaya, Rawang, the workshop brought together around 60 Standard 5 students and 5 ESL teachers, combining hands-on training, interactive activities, and insightful knowledge-sharing sessions.

Organized under the leadership of Dr. Khazaila Zaini the program aimed to equip ESL teachers and students with innovative strategies to enhance oral communication skills.

Focused on leveraging asynchronous learning models, the workshop explored advanced approaches to teaching and learning while fostering key skills such as speaking confidence, ICT competency, and collaborative communication.

The headmistress of SK Sg Buaya expressed her optimism that such initiatives would significantly uplift students’ English proficiency and overall academic performance.

Participants delved into engaging activities that showcased the potential of asynchronous learning to transform traditional classrooms.

Students participated in digital tasks, building their speaking confidence and encouraging active participation.

ESL teachers were trained to integrate ICT tools into their lesson plans, creating dynamic, asynchronous learning environments tailored to diverse learner needs.

The workshop also featured a resource-sharing segment, where curated teaching materials and multimedia resources—were distributed, ensuring participants left with practical tools for immediate application.

This initiative not only highlights UPSI’s commitment to advancing ESL education but also paves the way for more innovative collaborations between academic institutions and schools
