Tanjong Malim, 3 November 2025 – Five postgraduate students from the Master of Education (Science) programme at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) participated in an outdoor learning session at UPSI Adventure Park, as part of the course SSN60106 – Innovation in Science Education.
The interactive session aimed to enhance students’ interpersonal and social skills through authentic learning experiences that integrated innovative pedagogy and experiential learning.

Facilitated by Dr. Muhd Ibrahim bin Muhamad Damanhuri and Dr. Anis Diyana binti Halim, the activity provided a platform for students to apply communication, collaboration, and leadership skills within a real-world science education context. It highlighted that innovation in science education goes beyond creating new tools or materials — it also involves the human dimension of teaching, where empathy, adaptability, and meaningful interaction are key to driving impactful learning experiences.

Throughout the morning, participants engaged in a series of team-based challenges focusing on collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity. The outdoor environment encouraged reflective thinking and dynamic interaction, aligning with UPSI’s philosophy of ‘Learning Beyond the Classroom’, which promotes values-driven innovation and holistic personal growth.

The session successfully demonstrated how outdoor learning can cultivate a sense of connection, teamwork, and confidence among future science educators. It also reflected UPSI’s continuous commitment to fostering experiential learning experiences that prepare educators to think critically, act compassionately, and innovate with purpose.
